Water Pressure Regulator Replacement and Moen Flo Installation in Carmel, CA
Main Water Line Upgrade With New Pressure Regulator, Moen Flo Auto Shutoff, and Copper Main Line Repairs
The Problem: High Water Pressure and a Corroded Main Water Line
Excessive water pressure can quietly damage a home’s plumbing system over time, placing unnecessary stress on pipes, fixtures, appliances, and water-using equipment. During this project in Carmel, our inspection found elevated water pressure along with corrosion on a section of the home’s main water line that required attention.
- Excessive Water Pressure: The home’s water pressure measured approximately 110 PSI, well above the recommended residential operating range. High pressure can shorten the lifespan of plumbing fixtures and increase the risk of leaks.
- Failing Pressure Regulator: The existing 3/4-inch pressure regulator was no longer maintaining safe water pressure and needed replacement to properly protect the home’s plumbing system.
- Corroded Main Water Line: While working beneath the home, we found a corroded section of 1-inch water piping. Replacing the damaged pipe helped restore the integrity of the home’s main water supply.
Our Solution: Water Pressure Protection and Main Line Upgrade
To improve the reliability and long-term performance of the home’s plumbing system, our team completed several important upgrades.
- Water Pressure Regulator Replacement: We removed the existing 3/4-inch pressure regulator at the water meter and installed a new regulator. Once installed, we adjusted and verified the system pressure at approximately 65 PSI, helping protect the home’s plumbing from excessive pressure.
- Moen Flo Auto Shutoff Installation: We installed a new Moen Flo auto shutoff, providing the homeowner with advanced leak detection and automatic water shutoff capabilities. This smart device continuously monitors water usage and can help minimize damage in the event of a leak.
- Main Water Line Repipe: To accommodate the new equipment, we repiped the home’s main water line entering the house using new 1-inch piping, creating secure and dependable water supply connections.
- Copper Pipe Replacement: After accessing the crawl space, we removed the corroded section of 1-inch water pipe and installed new 1-inch copper piping, extending the line to the front yard connection for improved durability and long-term reliability.
- System Testing: After completing the installation, we thoroughly tested the new pressure regulator, copper piping, and Moen Flo system. We confirmed leak-free operation and verified the home’s water pressure was safely regulated.
The Result: Safer Water Pressure and Greater Protection for the Home
This Carmel homeowner now has a plumbing system that operates at a safe, consistent water pressure while benefiting from improved protection against unexpected leaks.
The new pressure regulator helps reduce unnecessary wear on pipes and plumbing fixtures, while the new copper main water line restores dependable water service. The addition of the Moen Flo auto shutoff provides another layer of protection by monitoring the home’s water system and responding quickly if abnormal water usage is detected.
